Hi Pack 39 families! I have a LOT of new information to share this week, so please be sure to read it over!

Webelos Welcome Night at Troop 737 - TONIGHT!

For all of our Webelos and Arrow of Light Scouts, this is an excellent opportunity to visit Troop 737 and see what they're all about. Join them TONIGHT, October 26th from 6:30-8:00pm at Evergreen Lutheran Church. The Boy Scouts will be demonstrating some fire starting skills and cooking some tasty treats (ever heard of a smaco?!). There will be a separate presentation for the parents of prospective Scouts.

Popcorn Prize Reminder

Don't forget to have your Popcorn Prize Selections ready to turn in to John Hansen by tomorrow evening at the Pack Meeting. Refer to THIS LINK to view the prize categories and have your son(s) make their selections. Prize levels were sent out last week via email. If you won't be attending the meeting, you can send those selections to John at hansenc40@aol.com.

October Pack Meeting

At our October Pack Meeting tomorrow, we will be conducting our Bobcat Ceremony for all new Scouts. We will also have our annual carved pumpkin contest! Please bring an already decorated and/or carved pumpkin to the meeting! (No guns or weapons in your decorations, please) Each Den will be judged independently using these three judging categories: Most Original, Scariest, and Funniest. Siblings are welcome to participate and will be in a separate class of their own.

Aspen Hollow

Our chartered organization, Aspen Ridge Church, is hosting an outreach event on Halloween called Aspen Hollow. This is a "Trunk or Treat" event and is a lot of fun. They will also have a large box maze created by the middle and high school youth group. Stop by for some fun and support our church and community! If you are interested in hosting a trunk, they are still needing several more. Contact me for more information.

November Pack Meeting

Just a heads up that we are once again planning a Dad & Lad Cake Bake for the November Pack Meeting. This is where the Scouts work together with their DADS (or granddads, uncles, big brothers, etc.) to craft a cake to be judged at the meeting. In addition, this is the month where we will be giving out Pinewood Derby kits in exchange for TWO CANNED GOODS to support our local food banks. And finally, our top popcorn sellers will be choosing their adult "victim" to take a pie in the face! Be afraid... be very afraid!

Conifer Holiday Parade

We are looking for a couple of enthusiastic parents to head up our parade efforts! This year's parade will be on the morning of December 5th and the theme is "The Magic of Hollywood." We will be using the same trailer as last year, and we still have the sleigh pieces that were custom-made by the Allbrittons last year. If you are interested in coordinating this year's parade float, please let me know!

December Pack Meeting

As in years past, our December Pack Meeting will take place at Elk Run Senior Center in Evergreen where we traditionally call BINGO for their residents. This is always a fun event and the residents love it! Please plan to bring a plate of cookies to share as well as a couple of BINGO prizes for the residents to choose from. Keep them "senior friendly," which means no flame candles, no candy, and no gift cards. Prizes well received include battery-operated candles (with batteries), large-print EASY puzzle books, socks, etc. Scouts need to be in Class A uniform.

Youth Protection Training

Have you taken your YPT yet? It is recommended for any adult within the Pack to take this training, but ALL of our Leaders and volunteers are required to have a valid YPT certificate every 2 years. This training is super easy to take - just 30 minutes online at your convenience. It is very beneficial to parents as well as Scout leaders as it shows you what steps the BSA takes toward protecting our youth. Visit this link to take yours, and then forward your certificate to me at the end so I can log your completion.

BALOO Trained

Thanks to Lloyd Kitchner, John Farnsworth, and myself - all of whom attended the University of Scouting and are now officially BALOO trained! (That stands for Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation - a one-day training event, presented by the council, that covers the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping.)

Class B Uniforms & Pack 39 Patches

If you or your Scout still needs a Class B T-shirt ($15) or a Pack 39 patch ($3), they will continue to be available at our Pack Meetings.
