News from the Pack

October Pack Meeting

At our October Pack Meeting, we will celebrate the achievements of some of our new scouts with the Bobcat Ceremony. We encourage all new scouts to meet the Bobcat requirements in advance of this meeting. These new scouts have been busy learning the scout oath, law, sign, handshake, and motto. Please join us in celebrating them in a symbolic ceremony.

After this ceremony, we will have our annual carved pumpkin contest! Please bring an already decorated and/or carved pumpkin to the meeting! (no guns or weapons in your decorations, please). Judging categories will be scariest, most creative & most amusing. We will also have a category for siblings.

Pack Campout, October 19-21

The Pack 39 family campout will be at Meadows Group Campground in Pike National Forest, Friday, October 19, noon - Sunday, October 21, 11 am. This is a FREE campout for the pack.

Meadows Group Campground is near Wellington Lake, but we will not have access to the lake. There are plenty of other activities available, and there will be plenty of camp engagement for the entire family. Please see the Signup Genius at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f084daaad2ea3f49-family for additional meal and camping details, as the Pack will only be supplying certain items. Flag ceremony will be held on Friday evening at 7 pm. Right now the weather forecast is calling for a sunny and dry campout. We hope to see you there!

Popcorn, Popcorn and No More Popcorn!

We continue to be amazed at the participation and enthusiasm that each of you bring to the table. The effort put forth by each of you to ensure we have a fun year (and free dues) continues to impress. We have made over $30,000 in Show & Sells and Neighborhood Blitzes!!! Please note that all sales sheets and money due from popcorn sales are due by next week’s den meetings on October 16th.

Trunk or Treat, October 31st

Every year, Aspen Ridge Church hosts a wonderful Trunk or Treat for the community on Halloween evening. This year, Pack 39 will have a trunk with a theme TBD. To make this a successful event, we need your help. If you would like to become involved, please contact our Wolves assistant leader Rob Magee.

Scout Bake

Grownups and Kids... get your CAKE on!! It's time for our annual Cake Bake on November 27th! Get creative and bring your best delicacy to the Pack Meeting! It does not have to be a cake - brownies, cupcakes, etc. are all acceptable, but please NO NUTS! More info to come.

Theme

Pine Wood Derby kits will be handed out to scouts and siblings in exchange for TWO CANNED GOODS (each child) to support our local food banks.

Class A Uniforms

Remember that your Scouts can wear their Class A uniforms to school on days when they will be meeting as a Den or a Pack. This helps show pride in the Scouting organization, and helps other kids gain interest. Encourage them to proudly wear their Scout uniform and positively represent our Pack!

Class B Uniforms & Pack 39 Patches

Class B shirts will be available at Pack Meetings for $15 each. We have an assortment of kids and adult sizes. In addition, we have exclusive "Pack 39" patches for $3 each. Please see a Den Leader or our Treasurer at the next Pack meeting if you'd like to purchase any of these items.

Pack 39 Website

We strive to keep our website up-to-date as a valuable resource for you. It is the best place to stay up-to-date on all things Pack 39 related. The "Pack News" section has copies of these weekly posts so you can easily find them again.

Leadership Positions Available

· New Member Coordinator – This position serves as the liaison for new members. This is the Welcome Wagon of our pack. Answer questions, explain the process, and put new families at ease.

· Derby Captain – This year our Derby Captain is turning the reins over to a new family. We will need someone to take over track storage and Derby coverage.

· Popcorn co-kernel – Our popcorn program is top notch and is responsible for paying for a lot of the Pack sponsored events. To make it successful, we need a team of individuals to help. We have a Popcorn Kernel, but can always use a few co-kernels.

If you are interested, please see Lloyd Kitchner or one of our leadership team for more details.
